Lights Out is on the horizon, but looking beyond that we are into the Winter/Spring cycle of shows. For the last two years, this has been the time of year when the F1 Climaxxx tournament has taken place, but the year before that hosted a different tournament. This was the Fallout Eliminator, which is making a return in place of the F1 to give that format a rest.
The Fallout Eliminator 2024/25 is a single elimination knockout tournament, in contrast to the round robin (or G1) structure of the F1. The prize for this tournament will be a shot at the world championship at the Grand March 2025.
Looking at the roster page, we currently have twenty four (ish) active handlers in the fed. Unless we hear otherwise from you, we will assume that you want to be a part of the tournament. It is an opt-out deal if you don’t wish to be. You don’t have to tell us if you do - you will be assumed keen if you don’t inform us otherwise. We would encourage everyone to enter a character into the tournament, even if it’s your second, as stories can still be told throughout it even if you don’t end up winning (which most, of course, will not). If you have more than one character, you’re welcome to choose which one of them you’d like to enter into the tournament.
The exact format of the tournament will be decided when the precise number of entrants is known, but it will follow the general idea of the layout below. There may be a different number of matches in the first round and a different number of byes, but the second round will definitely feature sixteen competitors. The hypothetical First Round below is constructed for a tournament of twenty four entrants, although the number may end up being lower than that.
7th and 9th December 2024 | Meltdown XLVI and Fallout 046 | Rome and Budapest.
First Round - eight matches involving (<)sixteen unseeded entrants. Two week promo window.
29th December 2024 (or 5th January 2025) | A Very Crossifre Christmas: Winter Wasteland | Kyiv.
Second Round - eight matches featuring seeded entrants and the eight winners from the First Round. Two week promo window.
25th and 27th January 2025 | Meltdown XLVII and Fallout 047 | Prague and Munich.
Quarter Finals - four matches featuring the eight winners from the Second Round. Two week promo window.
8th February 2025 | Meltdown XLVIII: The Final 4 | Brussels.
Semi Finals - two matches featuring the four winners from the Quarter Finals. One week promo window.
24th February 2025 | Fallout 048 | Paris.
Final - featuring the winners from the Semi Finals. Ten day promo window (midweek deadline, more details below).
23rd March 2025 | The Grand March | Amsterdam.
The FWA World Champion vs. The Fallout Eliminator 2024 Winner. Two week promo window.
Note that this schedule means that there will also be no King of the Deathmatch tournament in this period, as currently listed in the schedule thread. KODM4 will most likely take place later in 2025. Some other events have also been moved around slightly. An edit to the schedule thread is forthcoming.
Meltdown XLVIII / Fallout 048 will be the first ever ‘split’ Meltdown/Fallout, where each card and promo window will be standalone. This is a one-off and is because of the one week promo windows planned for that phase (to get through the tournament a little quicker). Both shows will feature one week promo windows with the usual Sunday night deadline, although the final match (on 048) of the tournament will have a special extended midweek deadline (we may also do this for the semi final matches on XLVII). The idea is that those not still in the tournament would only be on one of these two shows, even if the windows are separated, to give most people a two week break towards the start of the year.
Eight seeded entrants (this number is subject to change) are going to be decided through a random draw, which will take place the day after Lights Out 2024. These seeded wrestlers will receive a bye into the Second Round, bypassing the First Round. All matches in all rounds will also be decided by an open, random draw. These draws will take place at announced times in the Discord.
The last Fallout Eliminator was pretty awesome I think, and we’ve definitely got the roster to make this one even bigger and better. We’re letting you know about this plan now, with a month and half before Lights Out, to give you lots of time to decide whether you want to enter the tournament, and with which of your characters.
GLHF, and Happy [REDACTED] Day.
