- XLIV -”THE DEVIL WENT DOWN TO GEORGIA.”Live from the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. Saturday 28th September, 2024. FIRST MATCH | 1/20. Trick or Trash (Halloween Knight and Trash Mammal) vs. Vox Potentis (Jean-Luc Watkins and Konchu Hao). Tag Team Match. The Elite Tag Team Classic: Second Round. Match Writer: supinesnake.
| The Elite Tag Team Classic continues with the semi-final stage in Atlanta, kicking off with this match-up between Trick or Trash and Vox Potentis. All four men in this contest are former champions in the FWA, although it's fair to say some have risen to such heights more recently than others. For Trash Mammal and Halloween Knight, the tournament gives them the opportunity to reclaim that recently lost status following their defeat in the trios battle royale at Back in Business, and they started their campaign off in the right way with a victory over the Undisputed Alliance on Fallout 043. For the recently formed Vox Potentis, their tournament began with a victory over Cinematic Universe, another new team made up of Brooklyn Steiner and Aaron Harrows. The Fallout commentary team will look to book their place in the final, but will need a more even effort from their members if they are to overcome the partnership of Mammal and Knight. |
SECOND MATCH | 1/20. FTN (Chris Peacock and Alyster Black) vs. The Lumberjacks (Doug LuPone and Dan LuPone). Tag Team Match. Match Writer: Man.
| For the first time since becoming two-time FWA World Tag Team Champions at Back in Business XVIII, FTN return to the ring as a duo. Both Chris Peacock and Alyster Black are both believed to have signed waivers as neither are officially medically cleared to complete following the heinous assault on both of them at the hands of NTR on Meltdown XLIII. Their opponents, The Lumberjacks, fell out of The Elite Tag Team Classic in the first round, but a victory over the wounded champions could propel them straight into contention. |
THIRD MATCH | 1/20. Blair Ravenwood and Tommy Bedlam vs. Captain Righteous and XYZ. Tag Team Match. Match Writer: Jimmy.
| The last cycle saw the booking of two championship matches for Lights Out, due to take place on the 17th November in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Blair Ravenwood earned the right to challenge for the FWA X Championship, currently held by Tommy Bedlam, by defeating Sawyer Xavier in a #1 Contendership match. Captain Righteous, meanwhile, made the most of his debut by overcoming FWA Television Champion XYZ in a non-title match. Jon Russnow immediately rewarded Righteous by booking a rematch at Lights Out, only this time with XYZ’s gold on the line. Russnow also booked this contest, which will see champions and challengers temporarily align in a tag team match. We’ll find out if these strange bedfellows can work together in Atlanta, although one would imagine that the FWA’s authority figure (and resident mischief maker) will be banking that they won't be. |
FOURTH MATCH | MAIN EVENT | 1/30. Danny Toner and Nova Diamond vs. Eternal (Princess Nova and Keres). Tag Team Match. The Elite Tag Team Classic: Second Round. Match Writer: Dubb.
| The most shocking events of the last cycle, consisting of Meltdown XLIII and Fallout 043, was the formation of a new power stable in the FWA. This group is headed up by Nova Diamond and Danny Toner, who made their presence felt in a big way with a victory over the Buddy System in the first round of the tournament. They have set their eyes on FTN and particularly Chris Peacock, but will need to get past Eternal in this semi-final match if they are to keep that hope alive. For Nova Taylor and Keres, their tournament began with a win over the Lumberjacks on Fallout 043, with the duo making short work of their Canadian opponents. These two tournament favourites, put together by the random draw, will clash in Meltdown XLIV’s main event, a place in Fallout 045’s final on the line. |
- 044 -”THE 19TH ANNIVERSARY SHOW.”Live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Monday 30th September, 2024. FIRST MATCH | 1/20. Blair Ravenwood vs. Trixie Bordeaux. X Rules Match. Match Writer: ??.
| With over a year of development Trixie Bordeaux and "Queen Bee" Blair Ravenwood will finally face off to settle their differences in an X Rules match. Blair gets an opportunity to not only show she's fit for the X Championship scene in one of the most brutal matches, but also get revenge on Trixie who brutally injured Blair's sister Celestia Ravenwood at Back in Business. Meanwhile, Trixie will look to repeat what happened at Back in Business when she defeated Blair, and put the sole remaining Ravenwood sister away for good. Blair's continual antagonistic "Trixie Fact of the Day" tweets had certainly not helped calm Trixie, nor did Blair costing Trixie the X Championship at Back in Business. Meanwhile Saint Sully, a legend in the X Championship scene, will be there in Blair's corner to cheer on his love, ahead of his Hall of Fame induction. All while Trixie's last ally Kleio De Santos has disappeared and not been seen since Back in Business. From ruling over the FWA in one of the greatest stables of the year with "The Coven" to wanting to destroy each other... both women are looking to put an end to the other. Will we see the end to this story, or the end to just another chapter? |
SECOND MATCH | 1/20. ’Ton Tonton’ J.J. JI! vs. Vengador. Singles Match. Match Writer: Dubb.
| Both competitors in this match suffered disappointing defeats in the last cycle, with ‘Ton Tonton’ J.J. JI! unable to overcome the FWA X Champion Tommy Bedlam and Vengador also losing to Mike Parr. They will hope to bounce back on Fallout 044, but only one of them will be able to do so at the other's expense. Fallout 043 marked J.J. JI!’s ‘debut’ in the Fantasy Wrestling Alliance, although many observers - including, seemingly, Michelle von Horrowitz - noticed a more than passing resemblance between Ton Tonton and a certain company alumni. Vengador, meanwhile, is looking to stop the rot after a string of frustrating defeats, including to Bedlam at Back in Business last month. Vengador lamented that he had been preparing for Johnny Johnson in the lead-up to the match, who was replaced by ‘the Cowboy' at short notice. He will hope his preparations for JI! will set him up on good stead, but ‘preparing’ for an unpredictable opponent such as Ton Tonton is a tall task in and of itself. |
THIRD MATCH | 1/20. Cinematic Universe (Aaron Harrows and Brooklyn Steiner) vs. the Undisputed Alliance (Jackson Fenix and Nate Savage). Tag Team Match. The ETTC: Redemption Bracket. Match Writer: Jimmy.
| The Undisputed Alliance and Cinematic Universe may have suffered defeat in the Elite Tag Team Classic’s first round, to Trick or Trash and Vox Potentis respectively, but all is not lost for this pair of teams. In a nod to the original tournament and its double elimination format, Jon Russnow announced on FWA.com this week that these teams will take part in a slimmed down version of the Redemption Bracket. The winner of this match will qualify for a #1 Contendership match at Lights Out, where they will face one of the main tournament's defeated semi-finalists. Both of these unsuccessful semi-final teams - if they so wish - will have the opportunity to fight it out on Meltdown XLV for the other spot. If only one of them desires to continue in the Redemption Bracket, that team will progress directly to Lights Out in order to face the winner of the Undisputed Alliance and Cinematic Universe. |
FOURTH MATCH | 1/20. DUDE-! vs. Lexi Lemonis. Singles Match. Match Writer: Dubb.
| The FWA announced a pair of new signings to kick off the 2024-25 season, bolstering the other recent new additions to the roster. These latest signees are DUDE-! and Lexi Lemonis, who will each be hoping to kick off their FWA careers with a win on Fallout 044. They will face off against each other in this ‘proving grounds’ singles match, giving the FWA Cosmos an opportunity to see what each of them will bring to the table. |
FIFTH MATCH | 1/20. Joe Burr vs. Traffic Cone #2. Singles Match. Match Writer: Man.
| The NTR dojo certainly made its presence felt at the culmination of both Meltdown XLIII and Fallout 043, where they laid waste to Chris Peacock and then defeated the team of Bryan Baxter and FWA World Champion Jeremy Best. Part of that wrecking crew was Traffic Cone #2, who may just be the strangest wrestler to have ever graced the Fantasy Wrestling Alliance. A tall task, given the glittering tenures of past icons like Megaladon Man and Gator Guy (leave the memories alone). This (barely) anthropomorphic traffic cone will hope to get his FWA career off to a winning start, and further assert the dominance of his new power stable, but Joe Burr - fresh from the gimmick infringement filing office - stands in his way. |
SIXTH MATCH | MAIN EVENT | 1/20. Cyrus Truth vs. Mike Parr vs. Trevor Ocean vs. Katsu vs. Alejandro Giunti vs. Gabrielle. Steel Roulette Match for the Golden Opportunity Briefcase. Match Writer: supinesnake.
| One of the FWA’s biggest matches of the year returns, with six competitors - those who finished between second and seventh in the 2024 Carnal Contendership match - ready to enter the barbaric structure known as the Steel Roulette. Two of them will start things off inside the ring, with the other four locked in glass pods at each corner inside a demonic cage, waiting impatiently to be released in intervals. Some of these wrestlers have been inside this cage before, and one - Gabrielle, who just so happens to already have a title opportunity lined up for Lights Out - has even walked away with the win in the past. This year sees the return of the Golden Opportunity briefcase as a prize, which was absent from last year's Steel Roulette due to Chris Peacock putting his FWA World Championship on the line. This lucrative briefcase entitles its holder to a shot at that belt, now held by Jeremy Best, at a time and place of their choosing between this match and 2025’s Back in Business. |
The deadlines for this show are: Sunday 22nd September at 23:59, Pacific. Monday 23rd September at 03:00, Eastern. Monday 23rd September at 08:00, UK. Monday 23rd September at 17:00, Melbourne. No extensions. GLHF!

wow having to navigate a tournament and golden op at the same time honestly i feel so attacked right now So, you know how I felt last year being in the Trios tournament and the Steel Roulette. So we're in the same boat. At least Nova will win. "I need to beat you, Nova. I need it more than anything that you could ever imagine" -Nova

Cyrus Truth. The opening sequence here with Peacock was really nicely done and brought some effective closure to a storyline/relationship arc that you guys have been working on for a really long time. I'm not sure if I'm particularly satisfied with this resolution in terms of Chris and Cyrus entering into a sort of pact of non aggression over a common enemy (in this case Jeremy, but I sense the same will be true of a certain group of interlopers). The character work with Cyrus here (in terms of portrayal) is strong here and in the rest of the promo, with this being unmistakable as a Truth promo, both in terms of tone and the quality of the content. The second scene certainly has a creative set-up, and I thought the climax of it (with the sudden reversal of roles within the game) was brilliantly visualised. It's true that the monologue section relies on the list approach to multi-person matches, but I think the uniqueness and drama of the situation depicted helped it in that regard. It also helped that you were (essentially) the only one who went all in on that approach (although others did indulge in it in other ways), and that the analysis of your opponents was as strong as ever. The opening sequence, where Truth interacts with Peacock, brings us some strong character development but I'd have maybe liked to see that more prominently throughout the roleplay. The match focus, though, is strong throughout both sections, with the opener selling to us the importance of this match (and specifically the prize itself) before the monologue provides some typically cutting opponent focus.
Katsu. The major themes of this promo - particularly regarding Katsu fighting her inner demons, represented in both the title chapters and the manifestation of a literal monster to guide us through this medley of self-reflection (and self-loathing) are worn on its sleeve. The detail in each section, however, suggests a depth to this piece that will probably only truly be apparent to the writer. I was a little concerned that there were five sections to match the five opponents, and I wondered if perhaps each one would be about a specific opponent with the promo taking on a tried-and-tested list format. That is only true to a certain extent, because although I think each section has a specific opponent as its primary focus, the presence of all of your opponents in each section - playing a revolving cast of characters - gave a unique feel to this piece and made it seem much less formulaic than it could've been. I liked a lot of the meta touches but am not sure if so much attention needs to be drawn to them (the reader will most likely understand what you're putting down in this regard. I but also think the dismissiveness about previous feedback within the piece provides a certain irony to me providing some more here. The structure of the promo, in terms of the different sections that you could take in any order, maybe suffered a little in terms of uniqueness because a very similar format was used a couple of cycles ago, and - like with that previous promo - I found myself questioning what the purpose of using such a narrative structure was. Although it adds an interactive element I don’t know if there was an idea behind it -- I’m not sure of the merits of this style over a predetermined order that best fits the narrative. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on that. I thought the promo was at times disorienting but in a very deliberate way, and this sort of dreamlike atmosphere that you create was one of my favourite things about the promo. That element felt different from your previous writings and indeed the other roleplays in the match. The match focus was strong throughout, with a lot of discussion of your opponents (viewed through the lens of your own character) as well as the importance of this match for Katsu. Overall I thought you did a great job here, this was up there with the CC promo as my favourites of your works.
Alejandro Giunti. I really did not expect to see a Eurovision Song Contest pastiche here. This was a very fun set-up for a promo, and the execution was humorous and oddly filled with pathos at points, particularly during the moments of inner turmoil as Giunti makes his decision at the end. Before we get there, Alejandro is prepped to face his give main rivals in the contest, with the lengthy monologue-ish sections going through each of the Golden Opportunity opponents in turn. I think it was definitely a good choice to break up these sections with the rest of the narrative, which stopped this from feeling like a ‘list approach’ and also to continually give these opponent deconstructions context through the events that surround them. I didn’t immediately recognise the map behind Cyrus, saw the white and yellow bit and thought of Cyprus (although I ruled it out because of the blue part), and thought ‘heh I hope he calls him Cyprus Truth’. Was glad when this joke was also made in the promo. Initially thought it was weird to see Japan, USA, and Australia in the Eurovision Song Contest but then I remembered they had Australia in there now. The climax of the promo does its best in terms of character progression but would probably have liked to have seen more of this throughout the roleplay, although that’s perhaps inhibited slightly (but not entirely imo) by the alternate universe set-up. I’m enjoying the characters that you’ve built up around Giunti (or attached to them via trios partnership) and think the chemistry between Alejandro and them is really strong, even if Giunti seems to spend a lot of time being spoken at rather than to by them. Alejandro’s ‘choice’ was written in a very intriguing way and I’m looking forward to further developments there back in this reality.
Trevor Ocean. I thought this was a really well realized narrative piece with a unique set-up that you really went all in on. You realised this world so well – I’m not sure if there’s a reference point here that I am unsure of, but it felt wholly original to me in a way that was very refreshing. There was a sort of film noir-ish vibe here alongside the obvious science fiction references which made me think of Blade Runner a little I guess but not in a way where I felt like a pastiche/homage, this felt very much like its own thing (to me, at least). The presentation of this was maybe more simple than some of the other visual spectacles you’ve put out, but I think you really let your words do the work for you here, and you paint such a vivid picture of the world you’ve set your story in that there’s no need for graphics really. I did find the pink dialogue difficult to read, and thought maybe overall it was less clean on the grammar/spelling front than some of your opponents. I thought this was a very strong promo from a character perspective, and although you set it in an alternate reality you went to great lengths to ensure there was still effective character development for Ocean. Despite the complicated narrative you build around him and the numerous interlinking stand-ins weaving through the story (some more effective than others, maybe), there’s never any doubt that this is about Trevor, juggling his ambitions (again linking into the match focus category) and his past, with this struggle providing some of the promo’s best sequences.

Overall I thought you did a great job here, this was up there with the CC promo as my favourites of your works. Thanks. While at work the past few days while I've been doing some more mindless task my head was going back and forth on "Oh I should have done this or that." So I guess that insecurity from my own character is in my own head at times too, haha. But this made me feel a little bit at ease. I'm at least feeling a bit better in what I did. a couple if things I'll consider. I really wanted to have the characters be involved in the background to sort of break the formula a bit. Also sort of imagine how they would be in said world, give each a "break" in a section to not over do it, but add a little few things I'd imagine. Alejandro, the character, being new, blown back by the spectacle of a big fight. Gabby who has it all in kayfabe, the "smart/pretty girl" in school who seems to have everything. Then something out of the blue you wouldn't imagine like Cyrus the Pizza Boy! I also felt each story, in a way, is sort of told through a perspective which is skewed. A poison in Katsuki/Katsu's mind feeding on her own faults/insecuries and some tied to the world of other characters. In a way "critiquing" (but also celebrating) the faults of everyone. In the end, if a character has no faults, then we'd be boring. To that line also, it's both me recognising it (Straight up, I know I should triple check some lines to fit them into other people's gimmicks. I know I've had that criticism before, and I'm honestly still aware of it, and I think for other promos, I'll try.) but also saying for this... It really doesn't matter as much because as you said, it is a dream like state, and legit they feed off our emotions to the point where sometimes it goes crazy, but also the Doku character literally is poisoning Katsu's own mind and letting that emotion skew things where she sees the characters in different lights (Sees Gabby's and Cyrus careers and feels pressure on herself, a little envious since she's still young, sees Alejandro able to potentially do something she didn't, "I can do things with my own friends AND succeed on my own, screw you, Dad!" so on). And I guess to the narrative point,I picked the split routes for a few reasons. One was the "Poison of Choice" title. It fit with that and the idea of you picking what you poison your mind with. I initially considered having it so that "technically" you could have Katsu "tap out" earlier on, but figured if I wished people to read them all anyways, it isn't as needed. But I think it is kind of interesting to go "Hmm, what is this about?" Before you open it up and go "OH THAT MAKES SENSE!" Though some more obvious than others. So that was kind of a few of the things in my head. And picking the order to do it in was a pain, even in how I posted them it was a bit randomHopefully I can read through more of the promos over the weekend myself, but given how close I know some matches have been as of late, especially a couple involving people within this match, I don't envy you guys with looking through these and good luck with the show.

Noticing that the new forum doesn't have the post on Golden Opp-tions, apart from the one buried in the archive. So I thought I'd re-outline the choices available, for whoever ends up winning the briefcase tonight.
Option A. The briefcase holder can book themselves in a singles match against the FWA World Championship on any show between now and Back in Business XIX. A request should be made to the mods to do this. Usually, if this option is to be taken, it is done with plenty of notice so a program/story can be built around the pre-announced match, but the request can be made any time before a card goes live.
Option B. The briefcase holder can add themselves to an FWA World Championship match that is already booked. For instance, the briefcase holder could add themselves to the main event of Back in Business XIX to make it a triple threat between them, the champion, and the CC winner. A request should be made to the mods to do this.
Option C. The briefcase holder can cash in secretly during any card where the FWA World Champion is booked in singles competition. If the champion is booked in a title match, the briefcase holder must outscore both the champion and the challenger(s) to win the title. If the champion is booked in a non-title match, the briefcase holder only needs to outscore the champion. To enact Option C, the briefcase holder must inform the mods that they are cashing in no later than twenty fours after the promo deadline for the champion's match. This theoretically gives the briefcase holder the opportunity to see the promo(s) that they have to beat, though they will not know the exact score(s) they must surpass. After the mods are informed of the cash-in, the briefcase holder then has twenty four hours to turn in their promo. This means that the briefcase holder potentially has a maximum of forty eight hours after deadline in which to write and submit their promo, which they should do privately to the moderators. Cash-ins, including Option C, will be graded as per the grading outline in the rules thread. The score from the champion's match will stand for the briefcase holder to try and beat. The champion will not have the opportunity to amend their promo, or write a new one.
