From feuding with half of the NGW roster during his tenure there to winning the fabled Carnal Contendership in his fifth ever official main roster match, the early days of Nova Diamond didn't do anything in half measures. All his successes and failures are quite spectacular, like grasping defeat out of the cusps of victory in his first (and to this day, only) Back In Business main event against one King Sullivan. The early portion of his FWA career was like his namesake, a supernova, shining bright, burning out fast. Decorated with theatrics and molded with drama, it is no surprise that this very volatile period had come to an end eventually. After being away from FWA for nearly a year, the Nova Diamond that returned was nearly the opposite of the man that had left. A significantly more mature, more level-headed and analytical Nova might have not won the Carnal Contendership once again in his return match, but he had secured himself a Golden Opportunity spot. From there, his newly-minted outlook on wrestling became even clearer. Claiming that he didn't return out of a love for wrestling, Nova only had a single goal and a one track mind: Winning the FWA World Heavyweight Championship. By any means necessary. This mentality even led him to nearly taking Back In Business off as he refused to get into rivalries that didn't serve him in the pursuit of the world title. These unusual wishes did not come to fruition all the time, but it was enough to keep him fresh and sharp for the Golden Opportunity match. Taking advantage of every single opening, Nova won the Elimination Chamber match and with it, the briefcase that granted him to challenge for World Title anytime, anywhere, anyhow. Holding that particular power and especially being one step away from achieving that one single goal unfortunately had led Nova to yet another downward spiral, forcing the future Hall of Famer into yet another hiatus as what many considered to be one of the best eras in FWA has passed him by. In the end, however, he overcame his mental struggles and made his return in New York, cashing in on Devin Golden and becoming the FWA World Heavyweight Champion for the first (and to this day, only) time. This reign at the very top of the mountain however, could only last 13 days as his first (and only) title defense against the tandem of Michelle von Horrowitz and Gerald Grayson in a triple threat (though one can argue that it was more like a handicap match against Nova than an actual triple threat match) ended with Michelle pinning Grayson and ending one of the shortest world title reigns of all time. Following this, Nova came forward that he was not going to get back into the world title chase, that he had kept the promise he made to himself to being a world champion and now that that was achieved, it was time to call it quits. His 'last' match took place in Back In Business of 2022 where the hot Brazilian crowd watched him tap out fellow British former world champion and Golden Opportunity winner Phillip A. Jackson to his 24K Kneebar before riding off into the sunset. This bizarre but very impactful career of his has been validated to the highest degree as Fantasy Wrestling Alliance inducted Nova Diamond into their illustrous Hall of Fame in 2023. That could've been easily the last time Nova was affiliated with the company, however ... Nova Diamond returned to professional wrestling in a massive coup where he, Danny Toner and Ryan Rondo beat the living shit out of Chris Peacock and Alyster Black in a highly controversial segment as they formed what they called 'NTR', a stable whose whispers have been around as early as 2021. With the whole world shocked and left with many question marks, it is fair to say that this new tenure of Nova Diamond promises to be no less memorable or impactful than his previous ones ... |
