Saturday 7th September, 2024.
FIRST MATCH | 1/20. Aaron Harrows and Brooklyn Steiner vs. Jean-Luc Watkins and Konchu Hao. The Elite Tag Team Classic: First Round. Match Writer: supinesnake. |
During Night Two of Back in Business XVIII, Jon Russnow announced that late Summer would see the Elite Tag Team Classic come back for a second istalment, and that gets underway on the National Mall during Meltdown XLIII. Two wrestlers who are (at least more recently) as familiar with the announce desk as they are the wrestling ring, and whose only partnership thus far has been as Fallountâs most recent commentary duo. That being said, both Jean-Luc Watkins and Konchu Hao have held the FWA X Championship during their in-ring career (although Watkinsâ reign was nearly a decade ago), and Konchu has also had title success in the tag team division. This should show their opponents that they are not to be overlooked in this first round match. And who are these opponents? Aaron Harrows and Brooklyn Steiner are another pairing who have never tagged with each other in the past, although they do have their shared history in Hollywood in common (albeit with vastly differing degrees of success). Harrows was finally given his FWA contract during the second night of Back in Business, and he will hope that official employment will bring around a change in fortune for him inside the ring. Both Harrows and Steiner were on the losing end of their efforts in New York City, to Trixie Bordeaux and Tommy Bedlam respectively, but the new year in the FWA brings with it new opportunities⊠|
SECOND MATCH | 1/20. Blair Ravenwood (w/ Saint Sully) vs. Sawyer Xavier. X Rules Match - #1 Contendership for the FWA X Championship. Match Writer: Jimmy. |
Blair Ravenwood, along with her sister Celestia Ravenwood, fought a losing effort during Back in Businessâ second night in a civil war against their former stablemates in the Coven, Trixie Bordeaux and Kleio De Santos. The night before, Sawyer Xavier was also valiant in defeat, coming up short in a back-and-forth, lengthy match-up against the âreturningâ Nova Taylor. Although both tasted defeat in NYC, they have the opportunity to put that behind them quickly with a big win that would entitle them to a championship opportunity. That opportunity will come at the Anniversary Show, currently scheduled to take place on Fallout 044 in late September, and will take the form of a chance to challenge for the FWA X Championship. That belt is now held, for the second time, by Tommy Bedlam, who defeated Trixie Bordeaux in the final of the X4 at Back in Business to win back the belt he vacated earlier this year. Bedlam will have no time to rest, with a booking this cycle and this very championship match scheduled for shortly after. After winning the belt from Ravenwoodâs former stablemate in Trixie, thereâs no doubt Blair will be hopeful of proving her own merit by claiming that prize. And sheâll do so with none other than Saint Sully, the former World, North American, and X Champion, in her corner. Meanwhile, Sawyer Xavier will look to win his first gold as an FWA wrestler, and that starts with this #1 contendership match on Meltdown XLIII. |
THIRD MATCH | 1/20. Mike Parr vs. Vengador. Singles Match. Match Writer: Dubb. |
Both Vengador and Mike Parr had opportunities to win championship gold at Back in Business XVIII, with the former part of the X4 tournament for the FWA X Championship and the latter in the four-way match for the FWA North American Championship. Both of these contests saw new champions crowned from amongst the quartet, but Parr and Vengador were both unable to get their hands on a belt. Mike Parr was the man pinned by Cyrus Truth in the four-way, and Vengador bowed out in the first round against Tommy Bedlam, a late replacement for Johnny Johnson They will look to bounce back immediately in this one-on-one match-up, as the road towards Lights Out - the FWAâs next pay-per-view - begins and plans begin to be made, both Parr and Vengador will hope to forge plans for that autumn extravaganza. Each will be hoping that this road, and the new year, will begin with a much-needed victory at the otherâs expense. |
FOURTH MATCH | MAIN EVENT | 1/30. Gabrielle vs. Trixie Bordeaux. Singles Match - #1 Contendership for the FWA World Championship. Match Writer: Man. |
Jeremy Best emerged triumphantly from the ashes at the culmination of Back in Business XVIIIâs second night, meaning that he retained his cherished FWA World Championship. One of many inevitable questions that arise following this victory is, given that this long-running feud with Krash has finally been put to bed (for now), whatâs next for Jeremy Best? That question has been answered in the form of this main event between Trixie Bordeaux and Gabrielle, the winner of which will go on to face âYour New Best Friendâ in the main event of Lights Out with the title on the line. Both of these women are being rewarded for victories during Back in Business, with Gabrielle triumphant over her own long-standing rival Elizabeth (now Lizzie, again) Rose in the second ever Garden of Eden match in the FWA. Trixie, meanwhile, defended her FWA X Championship against Aaron Harrows successfully on Night One, before relinquishing this prize to Tommy Bedlam on Night Two. The two wrestlers, and potential challengers, have very different levels of experience in the main event picture. Gabrielle is already a two-time World Champion and a Hall of Famer, whilst Bordeaux is still waiting for her first opportunity to challenge for that big prize. Will that come at Lights Out in Puerto Rico? A Goddess stands in her way. |

Monday 9th September, 2024.
FIRST MATCH | 1/20. Eternal (Nova Taylor and Keres) vs. The Lumberjacks (Doug LuPone and Dan LuPone). The Elite Tag Team Classic: First Round. Match Writer: Tommy. |
It was a strange weekend at Back in Business XVIII for Eternal. Things started off well on Night One, with Nova Taylor victorious over Sawyer Xavier, but didnât exactly go to plan during Night Two. In the FWAâs second ever Garden of Eden match, Gabrielle triumphed over Elizabeth Rose to keep her Hall of Fame ring and, ostensibly, to free her from Eternalâs grasp. This means that the tandem of Keres and Nova Taylor are left to enter this tag team tournament, getting their campaign underway in Fallout 043âs opening contest. The Lumberjacks, meanwhile, were unsuccessful in their own efforts in New York City to capture the FWA Trios Championship, alongside their sister Lucy. That battle royale was won by the threesome of Alejandro Giunti, Luna Piper, and Jin-Ho, leaving Dan and Doug LuPone looking on from the sidelines, still hoping to one day claim their first taste of championship glory. Perhaps that will come at the end of this tournament, in the form of a shot at FTNâs newly won titles. |
SECOND MATCH | 1/20. XYZ vs. Captain Righteous. Singles Match. Match Writer: supinesnake. |
One man who had a very mixed affair (to put it milfly) at Back in Business XVII was XYZ, who ended his long hunt for gold with a win over long-term rival Kleio De Santos, thus becoming the FWA Television Championship. This was a huge, perhaps career-launching moment for XYZ, but it will no doubt be forever marred for him by the events regarding the woman he thought was his âmotherâ. The new championâs mental state will accordingly be fragile, but he has little time to compose himself, with this singles match-up scheduled against the FWAâs newest signing. Captain Righteous made his on-screen debut during the first night of action in New York City, but this will be our first chance to see the caped crusader compete. Given XYZâs own reputation as an adventurer and a superhero of sorts, he would usually be the ideal opponent for Captain Righteous, but what version of XYZ we get in Pittsburgh remains to be seen. |
THIRD MATCH | 1/20. Tommy Bedlam vs. âTon Tontonâ J.J. JI!. Singles Match. Match Writer: Tommy. |
Tommy Bedlam had a very successful weekend in New York City, emerging victorious in three separate contests over the two nights. During Night One, he put an end to his feud with Brooklyn Steiner by defeating him in an unsanctioned brawl backstage, and then later replaced Johnny Johnson in the X4 and overcame the unsuspecting Vengador. The next night, Bedlam emerged to complete the trifecta, defeating Trixie Bordeaux to reclaim the FWA X Championship, a title he relinquished due to injury earlier in 2024. Rather than take it easy following his Herculean effort in New York City, Tommy Bedlam will again be in singles action in Pittsburgh on Fallout 043, albeit in a non-title contest. His opponent is another of the FWAâs latest slew of signees, âTon Tontonâ J.J. JI!. Many have pointed out certain familiarities regarding this mysterious debutant, but we will have to wait until September 9th to get a glimpse of him in one-on-one action. |
FOURTH MATCH | 1/20. Trick or Trash (Halloween Knight and Trash Mammal) vs. The Undisputed Alliance (Jackson Fenix & Nate Savage). The Elite Tag Team Classic: First Round. Match Writer: Jimmy. |
The third first round match in The Elite Tag Team Classic sees two thirds of the recently dethroned former FWA Trios Champions, Halloween Knight and Trash Mammal of Tr1ck or Tr4sh, attempt to get right back on the horse and hunt down more championship gold. Many have been surprised by the success of Knight and Mammal since their debut, but their reign with the Trios gold - as well as Halloween Knightâs participation in 2024âs F1 Climaxxx - mark them out as ones to watch in this eight-person single elimination tournament. Standing in their way are the only team that has stood atop the tag team mountain in the FWA before: Jackson Fenix and Nate Savage of the Undisputed Alliance. Given that these four men were part of a recent feud over Tr1ck or Tr4shâs gold, alongside partners Juan Tothrefor and Xperienx Xtacee, their random drawing in the first round adds to the character of this tag team match-up. The Undisputed Alliance will be hoping to re-ascend to the pinnacle of the division, but find familiar and stubborn old rivals in their way. |
FIFTH MATCH | 1/20. Michelle von Horrowitz vs. Chris Peacock. Singles Match. Match Writer: Man. |
Chris Peacock, along with his tag team partner Alyster Black, had a wonderful Back in Business XVIII, triumphing in the main event of the first night. This saw FTN reclaim the FWA World Tag Team Championships, a belt theyâve held once before when they defeated Michelle von Horrowitz and Gerald Grayson of the Connection in 2023. This isnât the only time that Peacock has competed against von Horrowitz, with the most recent example being the final of this yearâs F1 Climaxxx tournament, where once again Peacock emerged with the win. For MvH, Back in Business XVIII saw her get a pinfall victory over the man that has plagued her over the last year. She saw off Shawn Summers after a lengthy pre-match brawl in Night Oneâs opening contest, extending her undefeated streak at the event to 6-0. With one bogeyman vanquished, sheâll now turn her attention to the boogieman, with hopes of finally overcoming someone who has repeatedly had her number over the past two years. |
SIXTH MATCH | MAIN EVENT | 1/20. The Buddy System (Bryan Baxter and Jeremy Best) vs. ?? and ??. The Elite Tag Team Classic: First Round. Match Writer: Dubb. |
Night Two of Back in Business XVIII was up and down for the Buddy System, to say the least. In the Fatal 4-Way match also involving Katsu and Mike Parr, Cyrus Truth was able to take the FWA North American Championship away from Bryan Baxter, ending Baxterâs second reign with the title. Jeremy Best fared better, though, as he was able to keep hold of his FWA World Championship in a hard-fought battle with Krash during the nightâs main event. Relations between Baxter and Jeremy have been frayed as of late, and their contrasting fortunes at the biggest show of the year will surely only exacerbate that. They will be forced to put this behind them in Fallout 043âs main event, as Jeremy has voluntarily signed them both up to compete in the fourth and final first round match of The Elite Tag Team Classic. Although both have been successful in the singles division, and Best still reigns supreme with the most important prize in professional wrestling, the Buddy System are yet to achieve similar success in the tag team division. This tournament is their opportunity to correct that, but a set of mystery opponents stands in their way, with the eighth team participating in the Classic as yet unannounced. |
The deadlines for this show are:
Sunday 1st September at 23:59, Pacific.
Monday 2nd September at 03:00, Eastern.
Monday 2nd September at 08:00, UK.
Monday 2nd September at 17:00, Melbourne.
